The Criterion

Growing up as a vigorous sports fanatic, Ruben Roman learned everything necessary to be The Criterion’s sports’ editor. Ruben is a Puerto Rican student studying at Central Magnet High School. He was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT having studied at Columbus School then moving on to Roosevelt School. At Central High, Ruben is a prominent member of the school’s newspaper as well as the National Honor Society and will be joining the baseball team. An outstanding student, Ruben ranks at the top 5% of his class.

When it comes to baseball, Ruben is a die-hard New York Yankees and Bridgeport Bluefish fan. Among his favorite athletes are Derek Jeter, LeBron James and Peyton Manning. He enjoys playing sports just as much as watching them.

Ruben has an appreciation for Spanish music being a gifted guiro player. When he isn’t reporting on Central’s sports’ teams, Ruben can be found enjoying his favorite movies: Goodfellas and Blood In, Blood Out. Ruben also savors Italian and Brazilian food. He gets his inspiration from Kanye West, George Washington, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Alexander Hamilton.

After he graduates from college, Ruben hopes to find success as a sports broadcaster or a sports analyst.
