Although the holiday season is approaching, it is important for students to stay on task and maintain good academic habits. It is essential to remember that the school year has not yet ended. Students need to continue to strive for the best possible grades they can achieve in order to ensure that they are well prepared for midterms following the return from the holiday break. Here are ten tips to help you stay in the groove of school:

1. Working on your most challenging task during the most productive time of your day.

2. Updating your calendar with key dates and events.

3. Writing down important tasks that you need to accomplish by the end of the day.

4. Using breaks wisely and getting five minutes of time in the sun. (Being in the sun improves brain function and sleep quality; therefore, it is beneficial to avoid staying cooped up all day)

5. Drinking at least eight glasses of water. (Stay hydrated!)

6. Exercise at least 15 minutes a day. (Helps body stay healthy and lowers chances of illnesses)

7. Follow a bedtime routine. (Do not get accustomed to sleeping late without reasonable explanation)

8. Set up your phone to receive reminders about important due dates and deadlines.

9. Focus on the task at hand and avoid multitasking.

10. Break down a larger task into smaller tasks and plan accordingly (Do not cram!)

It is important to keep these habits in mind as they should be applied in your everyday life to ensure optimal success. Students should abide by these guidelines and continue to put forth their best effort towards school. Although school is important, students need to remember their other priorities including friends and family. Instead of focusing on one aspect of your life, you should dedicate a specific time in your day to things you care about because thinking about school can raise stress levels. Enjoy the holiday break but remember to prepare for midterms!
